  • Eligibility

    • Applicants must identify as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander (AANHPI).

    • Applicants must currently be enrolled as a high school senior and be attending college by Fall 2025.

    • Applicants must be first-gen, meaning your parents did not complete a college or university degree.

    • Applicants do not need to be a U.S. citizen. DACA students or undocumented students must have a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to be eligible for this scholarship.

    • If awarded a scholarship, applicants may be required to submit either a 2024 or 2025 tax return.

    • Awarded scholars will be required to submit proof that they’ve been accepted into one or more colleges/universities before receiving the scholarship.

    • Applicants must not be a child or dependent of:

      • an OCA National staff member,

      • an OCA Executive Council member,

      • or an OCA Business Advisory Council member.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must identify as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander (AANHPI).

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled as a college student.

  • Applicants who are currently enrolled as a community college student are also eligible.

  • Applicants must be starting their final year of college/university or community college during the Fall 2025 term.

  • Applicants must be first-gen, meaning your parents did not complete a college or university degree.

  • Applicants do not need to be a U.S. citizen. DACA students or undocumented students must have a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • If awarded a scholarship, applicants may be required to submit either a 2024 or 2025 tax return.

  • Applicants must not have been a previous OCA-UPS® Gold Mountain Scholarship recipient (as a high school senior).

  • Applicants must not be a child or dependent of:

    • an OCA National staff member,

    • an OCA Executive Council member,

    • or an OCA Business Advisory Council member.

The S.Y. & S.F. Fung Public Service Scholarship Fund aims to support this work by awarding financial aid to students pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration and who intend to pursue a career in public service.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Scholars must identify as an Asian American or Pacific Islander (AAPI).

  • Scholars must have an acceptance letter from a Masters of Public Administration program (or similar program) and intend to pursue, or are currently pursuing, this degree in 2023.

  • Scholars must not be a child or dependent of:

    • an OCA National staff,

    • an OCA Executive Council member,

    • or OCA Business Advisory Council.

The Against The Grain Artistic Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in the performing, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications.

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity
  • Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled fulltime at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, associate/bachelor/master degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in the visual/performing arts (film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, mass communications, etc.)
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
  • Family members of Board members are ineligible

The Against The Grain Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college seniors and graduate students who have exhibited exemplary leadership, vision, and passion that is blazing a trail for others to follow and changing lives in the Asian American community.

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity
  • Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, associate/bachelor/master degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year
  • Scholarship is open to students of all majors
  • Have demonstrated visionary leadership abilities through innovative means
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
  • Family members of Board members are ineligible

The Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship recognizes Asian American high school, graduate and post-graduate students pursuing a career in entrepreneurship. 

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity
  • Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, associate/bachelor/master degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year
  • Scholarship is open to students of all majors
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
  • Family members of Board members are ineligible

Specific Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must own and operate a small business
  • Must have been in business for at least one year and generating revenue for at least the past six consecutive months
  • Must provide a business plan and/or a link to business website along with all relevant social media accounts

In honor of Lyly Koenig Koenig Mendez, the #LiveLikeLyly Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in fashion and/or graphic design.

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of at least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity
  • Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled fulltime at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full- time, associate/bachelor/master degreeseeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in fashion or graphic design.
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
  • Family members of Board members are ineligible

OPENING EARLY SPRING 2025

The APALA Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student of Asian or Pacific background who is enrolled in, or has been accepted into, a master’s or doctoral degree program in library and/or information science at a school accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

Eligibility Criteria for the Award

  • Applicant must be attending or admitted into a master’s degree or doctoral program in library and/or information science at a school accredited by ALA. Students pursuing archives and other information studies concentrations are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicant may be either a full-time or part-time student.
  • Two $2000 scholarships will be awarded per year. The funds are given in two $1000 installments at the beginning of fall and spring semesters.
  • Applicant must be in library school by Fall 2025.
  • Applicant must be of Asian/Pacific Islander heritage.
  • Applicant must be an APALA member in good standing by the application by application deadline (Not a member? Find out how to join here).
  • Applicant must not have received an APALA scholarship award in a previous year.
  • Applicant must be willing to serve on the Scholarship Committee the following year if the award is received.
